८-एप्रिल-१७८३ रोजी रत्नागिरी येथे इंग्रजांच्या "रेंजर" जहाजासोबत झालेल्या लढाईत पराक्रम गाजवणारा "महादेव" पाल.

Narayan Pal - नारायण पाल

८-एप्रिल-१७८३ रोजी रत्नागिरी येथे इंग्रजांच्या "रेंजर" जहाजासोबत झालेल्या लढाईत पराक्रम गाजवणारा "नारायण" पाल.

खुद्द सुभेदार आनंदराव धुळप यांच्या स्वारीचे पाल.

Surf rider म्हणजे पाणी कापून जाण्याऐवजी लाटांवर स्वार होऊन जाणारा. यांचा आकार आणि वजन कमी असून, यांचा प्रमुख वापर छोटे मच्छीमार करत. तसेच हे बंदर-बोट म्हणून सुद्धा वापरत.

Maratha Navy Day - मराठा आरमार दिन

आज ३१ ऑक्ट २०१३ म्हणजेच वसुबारस म्हणजेच आरमार दिन. आजच्याच दिवशी मराठा फौजांनी कल्याण आणि भिवंडी शहर जिंकले. भिवंडीला त्याकाळी आदिलशाहीत इस्लामाबाद म्हणत.
कल्याण खाडी शेजारी महाराजांनी दुर्गाडीचा किल्ला बांधायला सुरुवात करून मराठा आरमाराचा पाया रचला.

Today is Vasubaras, Maratha Navy Day. On this day Maratha forces captured the cities of Kalyan and Bhiwandi(then known as Islamabad).
On the shores of Kalyan river, Maharaj laid the foundation of Durgadi fort, and thus began Maratha Navy - मराठा आरमार.

Maratha anchor - मराठा नांगर

लाल बहादूर शास्त्री नॉटिकल अॅंड इंजिनीअरींग कॉलेज, येथे हे नांगर आहे. ह्या नांगराच्या संदर्भात खालील माहिती नमूद केली आहे.

"हा नांगर पश्चिम किनाऱ्यावरील विजयदुर्ग खाडीतील प्राचीन आरमारी गोडीच्या धक्याजवळून मिळवण्यात आला. हा निश्चितपणे अठराव्या शतकातील मराठा आरमाराच्या पाल-गुराबाचा आहे."

या व्यतिरिक्त अजून एका नांगराचा संदर्भ आहे, तो असा. 

५ फेब्रुवारी १९५६ साली मराठा आरमारातील जहाजाचा एक नांगर विजयदुर्ग बंदराजवळ समुद्रात मिळाला. तो कमीतकमी १०० वर्षे पाण्याखाली पाण्याखाली असावा असा तज्ञांचा अंदाज आहे. त्याची लांबी १३.५ फूट, रुंदी ८ फूट व त्याच्या मधल्या रुळाचा परिघ २ फूट आहे. जे आर डेव्हिस या भारत सरकारच्या नॉटिकल अॅडव्हायजरनी तो तेथून काढून मुंबईतील मॅरीटाईम म्यूझियम मध्ये आणला. संदर्भ: Entry under "Vijaydurg", in "Places of Interest", from "Ratnagiri District Gazetteer."

This anchor is placed at Lal Bahadur Shastri Nautical and Engineering College, Mumbai. Information plaque besides the anchor states that "the anchor was found near the Naval docks of Vijaydurg fort. It must have belonged to a Paal or Gurab of Maratha navy."

Besides this, there is a reference to another anchor.

An old anchor (length 13', breadth 8' and rod circumference 2'), belonging to the Maratha Navy was found lying in water near the port for over hundred years and still in good condition. It was removed to the Maritime Museum, Bombay, from the port at the request of Captain J. R. Davis, Nautical Adviser to the Government of India on 5th February 1956.
